Visitors to OnTheSnow.com have chosen Jay Peak Resort in Northern Vermont as their "Favorite Overall Resort" in the Northeast. The data period for voting was January 2010 when a Nielsen audit showed 2.3 million unique browsers logged in to the world's most visited Web portal. OnTheSnow.com is published by Mountain News Corp.
The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain, and Best Terrain Park.
"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Corp. President and Publisher Rob Brown. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."
Here are just a few samples of what OTS visitors wrote about Jay Peak: "If you love to ski, then Jay Peak should be your next destination. My family makes the 500-mile drive from our home outside Philadelphia several times a year just for a weekend of good skiing..." "If what you want is the best glades with the deepest powder, then come to Jay Peak. The most snow in the Northeast by far. Don't let anyone tell you it's overhyped. It's real, and they're so far north, very often when it's raining farther south, it's snowing at Jay. Heck, when it's clear skies at Smuggs and Stowe, it's snowing at Jay."
Jay Peak has been known for its unbelievable terrain, incomparable glades, and abundant natural snowfall for 50 years. Vermont's only Aerial Tramway is one of eight lifts accessing 385 acres of terrain, including 76 trails.
