LA CUEVA, a mountain restaurant in the ski area of Cerro Catedral, has launched a themed evening to combine snow sports and local Patagonian cuisine.
"LA CUEVA" is described as a "food and nature experience". It features a night-time snowmobiling and quad biking tour lead by specialised guides taking guests through austral beech forests up to an elevation of 1400 metres, with stops at scenic lookouts.
Dinner at LA CUEVA "The Cave" offers authentic Patagonian flavours prepared in its original wood stove. Meals are served in a cosy mountain dining room.
Skidoo or snowmobiling departures are from 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Only 17 guests per shift are allowed, so booking is recommended. All rides start at the base of Cerro Catedral. For the "LACUEVA" tour, arrive 30 minutes beforehand.
Guests should wear suitable clothing and footwear. It is compulsory to wear helmets on all vehicles, both the quad bikes and two-seater skidoos.
Access to the restaurant is by means of snowmobiles and quads only. Snowmobiling and quad biking tours are also available in the daytime.
Cerro Catedral (1030m/3379ft) has access to 120 kilometres (75 miles) of terrain. Its 50 ski runs, suitable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced levels, are served by 38 lifts, including a modern bubble and six-seater chair lift.
