Work has been carried out in Valle Nevado to update and expand its ski area for this season.

Since last December, the resort has installed two new lifts which give access to five new pistes of varying difficulty (blue and red).

Ricardo Marguilis, general manager of Valle Nevado, says, "One of the lifts is a double chairlift will be located in the area of ryegrass and the other is a towed teleski rise to the top of the mountain in Valle del Inca, opening in a back bowl."

Both lifts will be operational from the first day of opening of the 2010 season and each carry up to 1300 people per hour.

Work has also been carried out off the slopes, with the building of the Valle de Condores apartments and the remodelling of the Hotel Valle Nevado.

Valle Nevado has launched a variety of ski deals this season, including "Early Bird"; "50 percent Off Second Person"; "Kids Free"; and "Additional Free Person".

Valle Nevado (3025m/9925ft) is known for its beautiful sunshine and lofty altitude. Its 37 kilometres (24 miles) of local pistes combine with neighbouring El Colorado and La Parva to make up the ‘3 Valleys of the Andes' - the largest skiable domain in the Southern Hemisphere - with a total of 107 kilometres (66 miles) of terrain.
