El Colorado has undergone improvements, both on and off the slopes, in time for the 2010 season.
On-slope additions this year include a new lift to serve the snow tubing in Farellones; 10 new boxes for El Colorado's snowpark; and the introduction of night skiing in Farellones.
Off-slope improvements include the refurbishment of the main building "El Parador" where shops, rentals, and tickets are located.
Rodrigo Vega, director of marketing for El Colorado, says: "One of the biggest additions this season is the lighting of Farellones runways and snowpark, which will allow our friends to ski or snowboard into the night. And for those who ski, and for those who don't, the chance of having fun does not end here, the tubing and the new air games (canopy), which are located more than 2600m, consisting of a series of suspension bridges and zip lines ranging between 170 and 300 meters long, which opened this summer in Farellones Mountain Park."
El Colorado (2430m/7972ft) is the closest resort to the Chilean capital, Santiago. Its 38 kilometres (24 miles) of local pistes combine with neighbouring Valle Nevado and La Parva to make up the ‘3 Valleys of the Andes' - the largest skiable domain in the Southern Hemisphere - with a total of 107 kilometres (66 miles) of pistes.
