Ski A-Basin in May.

Summit County's Arapahoe Basin perches high on the Continental Divide, where its lung-busting elevation tops out at 13,050 feet. That altitude, along with 350 inches of annual snowfall, allows the ski area to operate with the longest ski season in Colorado.

Spring events crank up at A-Basin as other ski areas shut down their lifts. The resort runs its lifts into early June and piles on events every weekend in May. May 8 brings on the annual Red Ball Beach Bash and launches the Shakin' at the Basin May Concert Series, which pumps up the tunes Saturdays or Sundays. Rail jams run Saturdays May 8-22, and May 30 celebrates the annual Festival of the Brewpubs.

Skiers and riders can get spring lift tickets at cheaper rates than regular season. Adult full day tickets drop to $54 and half-day tickets sell at $47. Youth tickets go for $44 and child tickets for $25. Sightseers can get a foot passenger ticket for $15.

Spring lodging discounts are available with A-Basin partners in Summit County. Deals start at $54 per night for a bed-and-breakfast condo in Silverthorne.

The resort plans to operate daily through early June, pending snow conditions. Not all lifts run through the end of the season. Check for updated conditions with OnTheSnow.
