Flaine will be open for the summer with a host of free activities for the whole family from July 3 to Aug. 13.
The resort, in the French Alps, strives to provide a quality experience for holidaymakers who choose Flaine as their summer destination. This includes offering free activities so that the mountain is accessible to all budgets.
The resort is featuring all sorts of athletic activities including tennis, archery, basketball, and a French favourite, pétanque. Equipment can be borrowed from the tourism office for free; visitors must provide a refundable deposit.
A certified instructor will host aerobics, stretching, and sit-up classes from July 12 to Aug. 13. During the same period, children aged 6 to 10 can sign up for free workshops held three times a week.
Free cooking workshops, food tastings, and classical music concerts will also be held for visitors looking to soak up a little culture.
The resort is planning two theme weeks this year. The first, July 11-17, includes free guided hikes during the day and barbecue and fireworks at night. The second, Aug. 8-14, features free shows, concerts, and tournaments specially adapted for children. The little ones will also have the chance to build their own pint-sized house, with all the necessary tools (and supervision) at their disposal on a kiddie construction site.
This summer at Flaine, there will plenty to do without having to spend a single euro.
