Mountain High may be celebrating one of its top winters. The resort rides into spring with a snowpack that will allow the resort to run through most of April.
"We are running about average with snowpack," Marketing Director John McColly told OnTheSnow.com. "But this could be one of the top three years with attendance." The snow was enough to draw big skier and riders numbers from Southern Californnia-San Diego to Santa Barbara, and even Las Vegas.
The snowpack is allowing the resort to run daily through April 25 this spring. A longer season could be added based on snowpack and skier visits.
Spring at Mountain High goes into crazy mode with Spring-A-Ma-Jig. The annual spring bash spans three weekends, starting March 27-28 with Olympic snowboarder Louie Vito judging the Miss Mountain High bikini contest. The mayhem continues April 3-4 and 10-11 with Boards and Bands--events and music outside on the sun deck.
The resort trims down in spring to its main lifts at the West Resort: Blue Ridge Express, Coyote, Conquest, and Snow Flake. "We traditionally reduce operations to those lifts towards the end of March," said McColly, "but we have so much snow this year that it might be early April instead." Lift ticket rates drop when lift operations reduce.
Mountain High launches two specials in mid-March. You can buy a regular eight-hour lift and get a free group lesson or buy a full day Children's Academy lesson and get a free adult eight-hour lift ticket. Both specials are scheduled to run through the end of the season.
