The French resort, which has been putting an increasing onus on its environmental credentials, has announced plans to open new "100 percent natural" terrain this winter, inspired by Californian ski area Northstar at Tahoe. Avoriaz's 'Stash' means something like gladed skiing with ungroomed slopes weaving through the trees of the Lindarets forest. The slopes contain message boards with environmental information and there are, what the resort describes as, "secret passages." It describes The Stash as "an ideal compromise for back country skiing in a safe environment."
