Appalachian Mountain in North Carolina is living up to its word about having its longest season ever. Its next big event - the Wreck Less Rail Jam - is set for Sunday, March 28.
There is a $15 entry fee for the intermediate to advanced event. The amount available for cash prizes awarded to advanced class finalists will be determined by the number of competitors who enter. The entry fees will used for the awards. Registration is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. with competition starting at 11:30 a.m. Early arrivals will have more time to warm up.
All are welcome to compete, but the event is geared toward more accomplished skiers and snowboarders. The first round of intermediate competition will last 45 minutes with first, second, and third place finishers in each division getting the option to compete in the Advance Jam. Prizes will be awarded for division winners and outstanding women riders and youngsters.
A second 45-minute Jam will determine who wins the cash. The finals will include a game of Shred. Four dice will be rolled to determine elements that all competitors have to complete. A process of elimination is used to determine the final winner. Judges will look for consistency, style, and trick difficulty in determining the winners.
