This is an engineering school and many of the elaborate sculptures are the size of small buildings. Nearby Mt. Ripley, a ski area owned by the college, hosts numerous skiing and boarding events during the carnival. The Heartland's only true backcountry ski area, Mt. Bohemia with its huge 900-foot vertical drop, is less than an hour away.
