Prepare for a high altitude experience when you head to Wolf Creek for spring skiing. The southern Colorado resort sits at 10,300 feet at the base and 11,900 feet at the summit. Bring plenty of sunscreen as you're that much closer to the sun. Always have sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes.

Wolf Creek's "Fun Series" goes through the end of March. The Fun Series races are open to skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities. They're sure to get your adrenalin going. The races are free, but you need to sign up in the Raven's Nest on the morning of the race, from 9:30 to 10:30. The fun starts at 11 a.m. on lower Charisma. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to the fastest three racers in each age and gender bracket.

The last College Day is April 3. Show your college I.D. for a deal on lift tickets. It will cost $31 instead of $52. The mountain closes April 4. The Easter Bunny is scheduled to be in attendance. Wolf Creek will reopen the following two weekends though. You can ski and ride April 10-11, and April 17-18.

Wolf Creek tries to do its part to help the environment. The ski area is part of a free online carpooling service for skiers and riders. Coordinate a ride with other guests and save on gas. The link is on the home page of the Wolf Creek Ski Area Web site.
