Telluride offers more fun in and around the ski slopes, and some of it is free. Half the fun is the gondola, which provides free transportation to guests travelling between town and the resort. The gondola takes off from the core of the Mountain Village. It runs seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to midnight. Jump off up top and have dinner at Allred's Restaurant, which sits high atop the mountain at 10,551 feet in altitude. Allred's offers an award-winning wine list, exquisite views, and a relaxing atmosphere. The contemporary American cuisine is available nightly during the winter season. Private club lunches also are available.
Telluride offers guided mountain tours every day. The free tours help orient intermediate skiers and riders on the mountain. They leave from the top of Coonskin Lift every morning at 10 a.m.
Telluride guests can enjoy more than just skiing and riding. You can cross-country ski, ice skate, snowshoe, and sled. There are 30 kilometers of Nordic trails in the Telluride area along with miles of snowshoeing trails, three ice rinks, and a sledding hill in the town park. Equipment can be rented from the shops in the area.
Spring deals are being offered at Telluride. The Stay and Ski for Free deal is good now, through April 4. Book five nights of lodging with Telluride Resort Lodging and receive two additional nights, and the sixth day of skiing for free.
