The sixth Roxy Chicken Jam returns to Mammoth Mountain this spring. The four-day, one-of-a-kind event shows off some of the best female pro snowboarders in the world, including 2010 Olympians.
The event, scheduled March 25-28, is one of two jams of its kind in the world. Its sister event took place in January in Austria. The winner of the Mammoth Chicken Jam is crowned the Swatch TTR Women's World Champion.
The competition puts together slopestyle and superpipe events with a total prize purse weighing in at $50,000. An additional prize purse of $6,000 goes to the companion event-the third annual Mascot Superpipe Competition and the Quiksilver Cluck-Off Big Air Invitational featuring mascots that compete against Roxy Chicken and Woolly from Mammoth Mountain. All of the events are scheduled in Main Park.
Qualifying rounds for the superpipe and slopestyle launch the competition Thursday, followed by the main rounds on Friday along with the Quiksilver Cluck-Off Big Air Invitational. Finals and the Mascot Superpipe Contest are scheduled for Saturday.
The Village heats up Saturday night with an autograph signing session at 6:30 p.m. by Torah Bright in the Quiksilver Store. The crowning of the World Champion and awarding the $50,000 in prize money for the event takes place at 7 p.m. at the stage in the Village followed by a free concert featuring The Bravery and N.A.S.A.
Mammoth is offering Roxy Chicken Jam Packages valid for a three- to five-night stay with arrival March 24-26. The packages include slopeside lodging and discounted lift tickets starting at $164 per person per night.
