Termas de Chillán is on a quest to hold the crown as the Chilean resort with the widest range of amenities and services for those who ski and those who don't. For the 2007 ski season Termas will not only have finished construction on their state-of-the-art spa, they'll also cut the ribbon on a brand-spanking-new "Mountain Casino" that promises to pump some nightlife into this formerly sleepy resort. Termas, which means "thermals," gets its name from the fact that it sits on a geological fissure that spouts steaming mineralized water, and so a hot springs soak is definitely a highlight of this resort. Building on this unique perk, the resort has added a new spa wing centered on an indoor/outdoor pool, with services such as massage, body treatments, and high-tech machinery such as sensory capsules. The casino has roulette wheels, 100 slot machines, 10 card tables and a craps table. No tuxedo required.
Termas is one of the largest resorts in South America, with 11 lifts and more than 30 runs, including the longest run in Chile. It's recommended you hire a mountain guide who can take you to the hundreds of acres of backcountry terrain that this resort is known for. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, Termas has dog-mushing with Alaskan Malamutes, Nordic skiing, and snowmobiling.
The resort is offering foreigners two DEALS this year. Their Kids Ski Free promo is offered from June 9 to July 7 with a minimum stay of 7 nights, for one child free per room. Ski corn snow on the cheap from September 22 to the end of the season October 13 with a 2x1 deal, whereby the second guest lodging in a double room is free if staying a minimum of 7 nights.
Termas de Chillán opens in less than two weeks (snow willing!).
