Ski and ride well into the spring at Durango Mountain Resort. Purgatory is so pleased with plenty of snow this season that the resort will stay open on weekends through the month of April. It  starts Friday, April 2 and continues through April, weather permitting. Purgatory reopens every Friday and stays open through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The one-hour shift in operating hours allows the morning snow to soften. You'll enjoy the extended light of daylight hours thanks to daylight savings time.

Standard operating hours for Purgatory are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, March 28, when the resort is open seven days a week.

Lodging deals are being finalized for April Stay and Ski packages. Get two days of lift tickets and two nights of slopeside lodging starting at $69 per person, per night. Frontier Airlines is another option, if you want to fly to Durango. Frontier services more than 40 cities nationwide. Durango Mountain Resort offers inclusive air packages with Frontier.

The ski mountain is about 30 minutes outside of the town of Durango. Make sure you stop at the Durango Recreation Center and play in the water park before heading to the ski area. It is an excellent facility that adds to any ski vacation.
