Italy is set for a heavy snow dump this week, with up to 66cm expected across resorts; Thursday will be a whiteout with up to 35cm.
Between Sunday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 6, the 14 snowiest resorts in Europe are all Italian this week. Courmayeur is set to receive the most snow, with 66cm in just five days - the heaviest day will be Thursday with 32cm.
The next 13 snowiest locations will be Cervinia-Breuil with 65cm; La Thuile - 64cm; Arabba Marmolada and Val Gardena - 59cm; 58cm in Bardonecchia; Pila and Monterosa Ski - 50cm; Abetone - 48cm; Sauze d'Oulx and Sestriere - 47cm; Pratopilla - 44cm; Alagna Valsesia - 41cm; and Obereggen - 38cm.
The historic mountain town of Courmayeur will be the snowiest in Europe this week. Courmayeur sits on the Italian side of Mont Blanc with spectacular peaks reaching 4000 metres. The traditional town centre is lined with cobbled streets and old stone houses and shops.
This pretty resort is also an international famous ski area set between 1208-2763 metres and offers runs for all levels. There are other well known resorts in the area, such as Cervinia, Zermatt, Pila and La Thuile, all sharing an Aosta Valley joint lift ticket.
