They call them beels, sleds, Ski-Doos. But no matter what term you use, there's one word to describe the experience: fun. You're glued to the seat (unless you feel like doing a standing straddle over it) with a perma-grin on your face and your mouth dry from the cold air recycling through your dropped jaw. Snowmobiling, in a word, is a rush, especially when you get to break away from the lineup.
Deer Valley's owned and operated Summit Meadows Adventures guided snowmobile tours take place on the Garff Ranch, a five-mile, ten-minute drive from Park City's Main Street, located on Brown's Canyon Road off Highway 248. If you book there, you'll have to go with a guide but occasionally they let you loose to kick up the speed a notch. Summit Meadows Adventures has access to 7,000 acres of pristine open lands on which to snowmobile. This is private property so you'll need to book a tour through Deer Valley Resort, then take the 10-minute drive from Park City's Main Street.
You can ride daily for 1-3 hours and explore 7,000 acres of wildlife, vistas and meadows. Guides take you out, show you around, even set up a picnic lunch if you book it. You can go from mild to wild depending on the interests and experience of the group. $99 per person/hour; $124 for a 2-hourr ride. A three-hour guided tour including lunch costs $149 per person, with a passenger rate of $35. Lunch tours depart Monday - Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Complimentary transportation from Park City is available.
