Wild Thing Weekend at Canaan Valley Resort in West Virginia is  Friday-Sunday, March 5-7. The annual event features "The Infamous Pond Jump" for participants ages 13 and older who are willing to brave a potential dunk in chilly water.

Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday with a Rail Jam. Lift tickets are $12 and there is no registration fee.

Saturday is full of activities and eating events. A Lollipop Race for children ages 4 - 12 starts at 10 a.m. Two events - a Saucer Race for children and adults and a Boarder Cross for skiers and snowboarders - both start at 11 a.m. There is a Frozen T-Shirt Contest at 12:30 p.m. and "The Infamous Pond Jump" begins at 2 p.m. Event registration is 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

An outdoor cookout is planned from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., weather permitting. A hot dog eating contest begins at 1 p.m. followed by a hot wing eating contest at 1:30 p.m. DJ music will be playing throughout the day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Event and contest winners can pick up their awards at a ceremony set for 3 p.m. The Governor's Cup Reception, open to the public, follows from 4 - 6 p.m. The fee is $6 for light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Evening entertainment includes a DJ in the Main Lodge's Laurel Lounge beginning at 9 p.m.

The weekend wraps up with an Airboard demo and race Sunday. The demo fee is $5 and race registration is $10. An Airboard license is required for the race.
