The Burton Women's Snowboard Camp is an all day event at Liberty, Saturday, March 6. Instructors are all female. Advanced registration is encouraged since the camp is limited to 30 people. On-site registration is from 8 - 8:30 a.m. in the Heavenly Room. Instruction is available for beginners through those who seek to learn or perfect terrain park skills.
Camp instructors and their students will meet for about 45 minutes immediately following registration to get acquainted. The first on snow sessions are from 9:15 - 11:45 a.m. There is a second on-snow session in the afternoon with lunch in between. A 4 p.m. networking opportunity will be held at McKee's Tavern.
The cost for the all day camp is $175. It includes an all day lift ticket, both on-snow sessions, equipment and helmet rentals, a $15 voucher for lunch, and a Burton goodie bag. Liberty Advantage Card holders pay $135 for the package and season pass holders pay $100.
In other Liberty news: First Lady Michelle Obama took her daughters Malia and Sasha (ages 10 and 7) to the ski area over Presidents' weekend. Instructors reported that the threesome, new to snow sports, took ski lessons. Mrs. Obama has taken on childhood obesity as a cause that is in urgent need of being addressed in the U.S.
