Steady snow accumulation from storm after storm blasting across Colorado has allowed Arapahoe Basin to open Montezuma Bowl. The Zuma chairlift gives skiers and riders access to the back bowl at the popular Summit County resort. Montezuma Bowl features 17 intermediate, advanced, and expert runs so it isn't for the faint of heart, or beginner skiers. The new addition to the terrain adds around 200 acres of groomed, chutes, trees, and wide open bowls. It's a locals' favorite.
The 400-acre Montezuma Bowl, which is on the backside of Arapahoe Basin, hasn't always been an A-Basin fixture. It opened for its first season in January 2008, increasing the area's terrain by 80 percent. It was the nation's largest expansion that season. This is the third year skiers and riders can officially enjoy the steeps and chutes of Montezuma Bowl.
The big news at A-Basin this year is the new detachable quad chairlift that will go in shortly after the resort closes in June. The Black Mountain Express replaces the Exhibition fixed grip triple chair at the base area.
Season passes are still available at the Guest Services office at A-Basin. An Adult season pass is $299, with unlimited, unrestricted skiing and riding for the rest of the season. It comes with a few other perks, benefits, and discounts. The resort typically has one of the longest seasons in the state.
