Skiers and snowboarders visiting Banff and Canmore can now catch a ski bus to Nakiska. Bus and lift tickets make for an easy way to get on the slopes at the resort that hosted the Olympics in 1988.
You can ride the Nakiska Ski Bus and get a full day lift ticket for one rate. The round-trip bus and lift package costs $64.95 for adults, $49.95 for youth ages 13-17, and $19.95 for children ages 6-12. Taxes are extra.
The bus, which runs daily, is available from Canmore or Banff. It starts its first pickup at 8 a.m. at the Caribou Lodge in Banff. Other Banff stops include the Red Carpet Inn, Banff Ptarmigan Inn, Banff Springs Hotel, Mt. Royal, and Inns of Banff Park. One pickup in Canmore is schedule at 8:45 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel.
The bus arrives at Nakiska at 9:20 a.m. and departs for the return trip to Canmore and Banff at 4:15 p.m. Arrival in Canmore is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. followed by arrival in Banff at 5:05 p.m.
Reservations for the Nakiska Ski Bus can be made online. The ski bus also can be booked with hotel reservations online or by phone.
The resort added the new Gold Chair Express this year, chopping the ride time in half to less than five minutes. The Monster Glades opened up the trees for more off-piste skiing and riding.
