Wintergreen Resort in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains boasts some of the most extensive children's programs in the mid-Atlantic. Offerings are not limited to skiing and snowboarding.
The Treehouse serves as headquarters where "tree experts" provide on and off snow activities for children ranging in age from two and a half to 12 years old. Full and half day sessions are offered.
Snow Play starts off youngsters three years old with basic snow sport skills. Children just beginning to ski play games that help them learn about equipment, improve their motor skills, and safety on the snow. Ridgely's Rippers is designed for children ages 4 to 12 who want to learn. The full day session for this program includes all day lift access, up to four hours of lessons, lunch, snacks, and hot chocolate.
Mountain Explorers is for more advanced beginners ages 7 to14. It is only available weekends and holidays.
Ridgely's Fun Park is for younger children starting at two years old. A mini-tubing carousel, tunnels, and a gentle tubing hill make up the park.
Children of all ages can enjoy The Plunge when not skiing or snowboarding. Imagine standing on the top of a 10-story building and sliding down a chute that is three football fields in length.
Half day Treehouse sessions start at $60 Monday to Friday. Two hour tubing passes are $18 midweek and $26 weekends.
