Mad River Mountain, home hill to pro snowboarder Louie Vito and a popular Ohio day-trip area, is hosting a couple of fun events the first weekend of March, which will mark the end of the competitive event season.
The second annual Spring Jam, Saturday, March 6, will feature ski races, the always popular pond skimming event, and a fun park event. Atmosphere Clothing will bring their signature event, "Hips and Lips," to the Midwest for Mad River's last park event of the season.
The annual Memorial Race, also March 6, ends the 2010 race season. This spring classic race is a relaxed, fun event.
MRM has been serving Heartland snow sports enthusiasts for over 40 years. The area offers a decent 300-foot drop, 23 trails, and three terrain parks. There are six chairlifts and eight surface tows, including three carpet lifts for beginners, to keep your lift-line waits to a minimum. They also have the Avalanche Tubing Park with 10, 900-foot lanes.
It's been a good season with plenty of snow - both manmade and natural - for skiing and riding. Springtime can offer some of the best conditions of the year. Get out and enjoy the warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours.
