Kids play in the snow at the Village at Winter Park.

The Village at Winter Park is full of fun for weekend visitors. It starts at the Bouncer Terrain Park, which is across from Doc's Roadhouse and next to the Discovery Center in the Village. That's where little jibbers can practice and show their tricks at a free mini rail jam. It is where you can have some fun after the mountain has closed for the day. Times are 4:30 to 6 p.m. through March 19.

The free Cowboy Sing-A-Long is every Friday afternoon, 4 to 5 p.m. just outside the Village Gazebo at the base area. Enjoy campfire favorites from cowboys and cowgirls.

Learn to ice skate each afternoon, from 4 to 5 p.m. through mid-March, at the Village Ice Rink. The free lesson is to help you improve your skills on ice. You'll get a lesson and hot chocolate. Bring your own skates or rent. Sign up by 3 p.m. on the day of your lesson. Saturdays are Blade Capades, which are ice skating games.

Listen to tales of the Winter Park area with free fireside storytelling, from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, through March 27. Learn about the railroad, early settlers, and mountaineers. The Fraser Valley history is fascinating, featuring Doc Susie Anderson, the Byers family, the Cozens family, and David Moffat.

Finally, meet Free Willie, Winter Park's mascot, on Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m., through April 10. Kids love hanging out with Willie, getting high fives and hugs while munching on cookies and sipping hot chocolate. It's free, with snacks on a first-come, first-served basis.
