Women can ski and ride together at Echo Mountain on Her-Day Thursday. It is the latest addition to Echo's Night Rider Series, where women get together to progress their skills in a non-competitive, non-intimidating environment. It's a chance to ski or ride under the stars, with a fun evening of socializing, food, and libations.
This is a new program, started by female Team Echo riders and staffers as a way to get women together to either ride or learn to ride in the park. Echo Mountain is the perfect place to do it as it is a smaller area, just outside of Denver, with many terrain park features, such as rails, jumps, and table tops.
Echo's Molly Mueller says, "Many women are interested in learning freestyle, however, there just aren't as many women riding park as there are men. We've heard them say it's intimidating trying to learn jibs and jumps from a guy (or a boyfriend, etc.), and I think women definitely approach many of the features with a little more finesse. Women coaching women in a non-competitive environment like Her-Day Thursday is a great way to build confidence."
Her-Day Thursdays are from 6 to 9 p.m. Meet in The Garage at Echo, where dinner and drinks will be served. Rentals are available. The last two of the season are March 4 and April 1. The event is free, but all participants must have either a lift ticket or a season pass. Full day tickets are $45: night tickets start at 3 p.m. for $28.
