Ski resorts are doing everything they can to make it easier for you, especially when it comes to your rental equipment. Avoid extra airline charges by renting when you get to your destination. The latest craze is rental deliveries.
Companies like Ski Butlers and Black Tie Ski Rentals are at many of the major resorts, such as Whistler, Park City, Deer Valley, Mammoth, and Tahoe. Black Tie Ski Rentals is based in Steamboat, with businesses set up at nearly a dozen resorts, such as Aspen, Snowmass, Telluride, Vail, Beaver Creek, Winter Park, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Crested Butte.
Door 2 Door Ski Rental Delivery is another service. This company has merged with Christy Sports in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, to make it easier to get rental equipment to customers. Skis and snowboards are delivered to your door and custom fitted to your ability. You can switch off your gear, drop it off, or get repairs at any Christy Sport location, which many times is at the base of the mountain. You can also purchase merchandise off of the D2D website and it is delivered with your rental gear.
D2D owner Ben Saari says they are in touch with each guest before they arrive. If they are first-time renters, a customer profile is collected, which can be used at any resort they visit. They are familiar with what the guest needs before arriving at their lodging property.
"We fit the boots and skis in the room. We take the ski shop out of the equation and it works extremely well for families because they don't have to coordinate all the kids and the family members to meet or stand in line at a ski shop."
Saari says the partnership with Christy Sports is a good relationship because of the Christy Sport base locations. "Not only do we deliver it for free and pick it up for free, but the guest can also store their skis at the Christy sport base area for free."
