Pebble Creek is readying for annual events that bring together telemark skiers and snowboarders for competitions.
The Annual Telemark Festival, scheduled Feb. 27- 28, combines one day of learning with a day of competition. Saturday offers beginners a chance to get coaching from experienced telemark skiers. Demos for testing are available from Black Diamond.
Sunday features the Rondo Rally competition. Alpine skiers, randonee, and snowboarders can join the event, too. The rally starts at 7:30 a.m. when skiers hike up the mountain twice and ski down twice. The rally follows with a Classic Terrain Race at 1 p.m. that weaves through slalom gates and climbs through uphill gates.
Registration costs $25, which includes a T-shirt, race entries, post race party, and prizes. Lift tickets are required for entry.
The Eighteenth Annual Snowboard Rally loads a day with competitions. It kicks off at 11 a.m. March 13 with the high ollie contest followed by the farthest ollie contest. Snowboarders view for the biggest air at noon with a rail jam and 180 style contest. The best trick competition takes place at 4:30 p.m. with competitors showing their stuff on a rail and a jump.
Registration costs $18, and lift tickets are required. The entrance fee includes a T-shirt, competition entries, and prizes. Participants also can test out demo boards from Head and Never Summer.
