Skiing and snowboarding long has been about the après as it has the snow. It's a tradition for many skiers and boarders to complete their day of thigh burning powder turns with a cleansing ale, a butterscotch schnapps, a mulled wine. Austria's St. Anton is as renowned for its après scene as much as for its impressive terrain. Hotham Alpine Resort gets in on the same action this winter with not one, not two, but seven days dedicated to the art of après.
L'Oreal Paris will have the ladies covered with an alpine fashion parade and makeup and beauty sessions. Local spa companies will be offering "martinis and manicures," to keep with the après theme. The resort will put on one big party with acoustic music at Zirky's bar, salsa and sangria nights, and the ultimate Heineken Star Party with DJs 'TV Rock', Aug. 9-15. Add some tapas, mountain barbecues, jazz on the mountain, and happy hours across the mountain's plethora of bars.
The Australian high country is known for its gourmet fare and produce and is a renowned wine region. Amulet and Gapsted wineries will set up wine tastings and Wild Brumby Schnapps distillery will host a tasting night. But wait there is more with all the ski and snowboard brands being represented. Salomon, Oakley, Fischer, Elan, K2, Volkl, Dynastar, and Rossignol will demo their latest range of products with special deals on for the week.
