It's steep, scary, and can be very dangerous, but for those who have no fear and can handle it, Extreme Limits is the place to ski and ride at Crested Butte. The world famous terrain is now open at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, thanks to plenty of powder from storms that recently pounded southwest Colorado. The Extreme Limits are some of the toughest in-bounds skiing in North America, with deep snow-holding tree glades, exciting drops into soft landings, and challenging expert runs. It's also where the World Extreme Freeskiing Championships have been hosted for the past 19 years.

Ski Patrol and the mountain operations crew at Crested Butte had to make sure the area was safe before opening it, as the locals were getting antsy to get to the expert-only terrain.

Former Olympian and current Crested Butte resident Wendy Fisher can take you on a tour of the Extreme terrain. The former U.S. Extreme Freeskiing champion will host a special Valentine's Ski Clinic, Feb. 13-15. You'll need to be able to ski black diamond runs comfortably to even think of visiting the Extreme Limits, with Wendy or without.

Crested Butte also offers Kids Ski Free in February and March. It's good for children ages 7 to 12. The deal is in conjunction with families who stay at a Crested Butte Mountain Resort Property.
