Lake Tahoe area resorts are teaming up with Sierra Avalanche Center (SAC) for ski days to raise funds to support the center. The ski days offer discounted lift tickets with the full amount of the lift ticket price going to support the avalanche center.

Bear Valley and Northstar-at-Tahoe ran their SAC ski days in January, with all of the tickets selling out. Five other resorts are scheduled to hold SAC days throughout the remainder of the season.

Kirkwood and Mt. Rose are hosting their SAC ski days Feb. 21, and Alpine Meadows follows with their SAC ski day Feb. 28. Sugar Bowl scheduled their SAC ski day for March 28. Tickets, which cost $35 each, are available online until sold out. Those purchasing the tickets save 47-50 percent on lift tickets purchased at the resorts.

Heavenly is hosting three SAC days: April 6, 7, and 8. Tickets cost $45.

SAC Ski and Ride Days include more than discounted lift tickets. On-snow safety gear demonstrations and giveaways add to the festivities, and professional avalanche forecasters will be available to answer questions.

Tickets for SAC ski days are only available online through Sierra Avalanche Center. The ski days are the center's largest fundraising event for the season. The lift tickets purchased through SAC are only valid on the day of the event at the participating resort.
