Italy's Val Gardena region is running a special promotion on accommodation, lift passes, and equipement hire during the Easter holidays period from March 20 to April 11, 2010.
The region's Super Sun promotion offers seven nights' stay for the price of six, as well as a six-day ski pass and ski-day equipment hire for the price of five days.
Vouchers for the complimentary day's lift pass are provided by your hotel on arrival but you must ensure you pick a participating hotel when you book online (look for the sun symbol next to the hotel's entry). Up to 479 properties are participating.
Val Gardena is lift-linked to the 500 kilometres of runs in the Sella Ronda and is also part of the giant Dolomiti Superski region with its 1200 kilometres of runs. The resort's local skiing is some of the most exciting in the region, with famous runs including Ciampinoi, Dantercepies, and Piz Sella. The annual World Cup Downhill event recorded Britain's best ever performance - a second for Konrad Bartelski.
Ortesei is a relatively large and pleasant market town with a double cable car link to Santa Cristina and Selva and from there onto the Sella Ronda. The town has a life beyond skiing, being a regional agricultural and commercial centre. Santa Cristina is an attractive village, but relatively spread out.
