The Disney XD Contest, a freestyle competition for children and teenagers, will take place every Saturday, Feb. 1-April 3, in Bardonechhia.
The contest is free and open to all skiers and snowboarders under 18 years. Prizes will be given for the most acrobatic jump, the youngest participant, and the best skier. The top prize is a snowboard customised by Nitro and Disney XD.
This event follows the huge success of the first Disney XD Contest at the snowpark Jan. 2, which attracted many young talents.
Bardonecchia's snowpark ‘Fiat FreestyleTeam Snowparking' is situated in the area of Melexet and has a four-seater chairlift. The park has a vertical drop of 1100 metres and is made up of a number of areas, including rails, boxes, rainbows, a jibbing area, and the 130-metre-long Olympic Halfpipe - the only Olympic halfpipe in Europe.
The snowpark is divided up according to the difficulty of the structures: Red Park medium pro area and the Blue Park beginner area.
Bardonecchia (1312m), host of the Turin Winter Olympics 2006, offers access to 100 kilometres of slopes best suited to intermediate skiers and boarders. Skiing is spread over three areas: Melezet, Jafferau, and Campo Smith. The terrain offers everything from wide runs to tree-lined trails and a top altitude of 2800 metres. There are also endless possibilities for off-piste skiing.
