The popular Altitude Jazz Festival returns to the Serre Chevalier Jan. 28-Feb. 13, bringing a wealth of musical performances to the mountains.

During the festival, visitors will find free concerts in bars, restaurants, and altitude terraces. Paid performances are also available most evenings starting at 8:30 p.m, with tickets priced between €8 and €23 per person, in various venues in Briancon, Serre Chevalier, l'Argentiere la Bessee, Villard Saint Pancrace, and Montgenevre.

Highlights of the festival include the Kora Jazz Trio at the Theatre Le Cadran in Briancon (Feb. 5); the Sangoma Everett and Jean Toussaint Quartet at the Serre d'Aigle in Serre Chevalier (Feb. 11); the Mini Agossi Trio (pop, rock, and blues) at the Salle de la Montagne in Montgenevre (Feb. 12); and the closing concert from the Michigan Jazz Quintet at the Casino Barriere in Briancon (Feb. 13).

Serre Chevalier's ski area is open until April 24, 2010. It offers a total of 250 kilometres of runs divided in to 108 pistes for all levels of skier and snowboarder (24 green, 31 blue, 38 red, and 14 black).

The resort comprises 13 villages and is spread over four areas: Briancon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve la Salle, and La Monetier les Bains. The ski area is particularly popular with families.
