Red Lodge Mountain preps for February events as the resort honors its golden anniversary. The month holds other events including a Women's Snow Spa and the launch of a spring lodging package.
The town of Red Lodge goes crazy during its annual Winter Carnival, scheduled this year Feb. 19-20. But the theme this year-50th Birthday--takes on special significance with the celebration of the golden anniversary of Red Lodge Mountain Resort. The mountain party features retro costume contests that encourage skiers and riders to dust off the flashiest '80s neon, antique wool sweaters, and those old stretch pants.
Saturday Winter Carnival events include the annual Cardboard Classic. Contestants glue or tape cardboard together to form a craft to race down Show-off Alley for prize money won for creativity or speed.
February introduces the Women's Snow Spa, a two-day program for women skiers held Feb. 26-27. The spa theme of the coaching clinic refers to focusing on the hands, feet, and body core. The program, which costs $250, is designed for skiers comfortable on green and blue runs. It includes two days of coaching, lunches, and a wine and appetizer party. Two-day lift tickets are available for $60.
The month also launches the annual spring Lazy M lodging package, named for the resort's longest run at 2.5 miles from the top of Grizzly Peak. Lazy M packages start at $55 per person per day based on quad occupancy and $70.50 per person per day based on double occupancy. The packages, which are available Feb. 16-April 1, combine lift tickets at Red Lodge with lodging in town.
