Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania's Poconos has a full slate of events lined up for the rest of the winter including the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31. The first event is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The weekend series features border cross and slope style events. Slope style attracts freestyle snowboarders and involves athletes performing tricks in the air as well as on rails and boxes. Points are awarded for style and difficulty.

The series is sponsored by the United States of America Snowboard Association, an organization founded in 1988 to perpetuate grass roots snowboard competition. Membership in USASA is required to complete. USASA runs the series  to promote snowboarding and provide competition for snowboarders of varying ability levels at regional events throughout the country. Another series competition will be held at Camelback Feb. 28. The national championships are April 4-9 at Copper Mountain, Colo.

Camelback runs one of the most comprehensive Burton Learn to Snowboard programs on the east coast with freestyle and progression programs for children and adults, including women-specific clinics.

Camelback is home to Oak Grove, the only halfpipe in the Poconos. It is located in the CBK terrain park area.
