Boreal offers several ways to ski or ride for less than the usual ticket window prices. A reward card, special Friday rates, and first timer incentives offer ways to get on the slopes without paying full price.

The resort's iRide Reward Card provides a way to get a third day of skiing or snowboarding free. Cardholders who purchase an adult all day lift ticket on any two days this winter get a third day's lift ticket free.

Sign up for the free iRide cards online first, and then buy the first lift ticket. Cardholders must be at least 13 years old. One ticket is permitted per card per day, and the free third ticket is only valid this winter.

Boreal also offers a Parent Shared Ticket at the same price as a regular adult ticket. The shared ticket allows two adults who need to care for toddlers to share a single pass between them.

Frickin' Fridays offer all day lift tickets for $15 for select skiers and riders. College students, military personnel, and furloughed California state employees all qualify for the reduced lift ticket rate. Bring valid ID.

First timers can also get a season pass free by taking their first lessons at Boreal. The resort's 1-2-3 Ride Free program designed for ages 8 and older incorporates lift, lesson, and rentals into a learning package. Day one costs $65-75 while the packages on day two and three cost $25. The lessons may be taken on any three days this winter. Lift tickets for this program are limited to two lifts-the Castle Peak Quad and Nugget lifts.

All three lessons must be completed to receive a free season pass. The non-transferable pass is valid for the remainder of this season through April 11.
