The Purgatory Ski Area offers sleigh rides from Buck's Livery. Horse-drawn sleighs are lined up at the base area, at the end of the day to give picturesque rides around the resort. You'll bundle up under blankets for the 35- to 45-minute ride and later enjoy a bonfire and hot chocolate. Each sleigh holds up to six people. Rides leave at 5, 6, and 7 p.m.
Buck's Livery has been running the show for over 25 years. The horse teams include Kate and Bell, Tuck and Thelma, Earl and Pearl, and Sara and Susie. Beth Holland with the resort says, "It's a great way for families to do an activity together, especially when someone is not a skier."
Purchase tickets for the sleigh ride at the ticket office. The cost is $30 for adults ages 13 and older and $20 for kids 12 and under. Kids under two years old are free.
You can turn the sleigh ride into a dinner date. Special packages are available that include the sleigh ride and dinner at Purgy's for $52 for each adult ($37 on holidays) and $27 for each child. You also can enjoy a romantic sleigh ride and fondue dinner for $75 per couple.
Reservations are recommended and holiday rates may vary.
