Ladies, grab your pink outfits and head for the slopes at Ohio's Mad River Mountain. It's the third annual Pretty In Pink snowboard competition for women of all ages and skill levels, which is slated to take place on Sunday, Jan. 24. it's a charity event with proceeds going to breast cancer research, and enthusiasm counts as much as skill.
For women who feel a little tentative about their skills should consider joining MRM's Snow Angels. It's a program designed for women and utilizes women instructors. Sometimes women relate better to other women who understand their instructional needs and fears. Special Women Specific Topics will help you choose the right equipment for comfort and skiing ability, ultimately adding to your skiing enjoyment.
The lessons are offered noon to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons. You will improve your skills and confidence, and meet like-minded women to ski with. Lessons are $20 per session.
MRM has been serving Heartland snowsports enthusiasts for over 40 years. The area offers a decent 300-foot drop, 23 trails and three terrain parks. There are six chairlifts and eight surface tows, including three carpet lifts for beginners, to keep lift-line waits to a minimum. In addition there's the Avalanche Tubing Park with 10 900-foot lanes. Get out and enjoy winter. It's contagious.
