The Homestead Resort, nestled among towering sand dunes along the Lake Michigan coastline in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, is offering some attractive lift and lodging packages for couples and families this winter.
It offers incredible panoramic views from the top of the ski hill. You can trace the gentle curve of the shoreline far below. A broad expanse of steely blue water, often with ice floes, fills the frame, and the Manitou Islands bob on the horizon. It's one of the best views in the Heartland.
The resort is running an attractive lift and lodging special called Winter Weekend Getaway through the rest of the winter season until clsoing day March 7. The package includes two nights lodging in one of the resort's four small hotels, a breakfast buffet each morning, one dinner at Nonna's, and lift tickets for skiing or riding from arrival to departure. The cost for couples starts from $182 per night, and for a family of four from $238 per night.
The Homestead makes a great romantic getaway for Valentine's Day weekend. It's a resort with the heart and soul of a fine B&B.
It's one of few Midwest ski areas to limit lift ticket sales. That's done to provide an uncrowded ski and snowboard experience. It allows you to experience the wonderful view without worrying about overcrowded slopes. The ski area offers a 375-foot vertical drop, three chairlifts and 16 named runs. The Homestead is intimate enough that you can turn the kids loose without fear of them getting lost, and the same goes for the village. It's arguably one of the best family resorts around the Great Lakes.
Fridays during January and February enjoy the Wine Down Hour at Nonna's. For $10 per person you enjoy wine and featured hors d'ouevres. On Jan. 22-24 you get 10 percent off all snowsports lessons.
