Squaw Valley welcomed a new restaurant this winter. The Cable Car Café, located inside the Olympic Cable Car Building, aims to feed those who want to grab something to go as well those looking for good-tasting food.
The Cable Car Café, which debuted in late November, serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and take-out meals. Employees and those aiming for first tracks at the resort are finding its 7 a.m. opening easy for nabbing local baked goodies on the way to the slopes. The restaurant stays open until 8 p.m. most nights, but extends its hours until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The breakfast menu offers $2-5 items such as French toast stick or a breakfast burrito. Capuccinos and other drinks are also available. Lunch features soup, chili, sandwiches, burgers, sushi, salads, and pizza by the slice priced under $9. Dinners, which cost under $15, span the range of Italian and Asian inspired dishes, including vegetarian options. A children's menu with $5 breakfast, lunch, and dinner options is also available.
The family-owned restaurant is also family-operated. The restaurant's menu features locally fresh-baked breads and cinnamon rolls as well as organic greens, coffee, and tea.
The Cable Car Café also sells hats, goggles and gloves for those who forgot items for the slopes.
