The Wasatch finally got the snow they've been dancing for since November. The Cottonwood Canyon areas rocked Wednesday with 17 inches of freshies and more on the way.

Snowbird's mountain ops are calling for 7 to 11 inches by late Thursday and 70 percent chance of snow throughout the New Year's weekend. You might want to reconsider the late night party scene for Thursday and Friday if you want to catch some untracked.

Call ahead before you make plans for Alta or the Bird. There may be road closures. If not, there's a good chance you'll need chains or snowtires.
