Little did we realize that Tim Boyd, the man behind Peak Resorts, would someday buy a couple of ACS major Eastern holdings when we called Peak the Midwest version of ACS. The sale includes the Grand Summit hotels at both locations. Boyd said both Mount Snow and Attitash will fit nicely into the company's stable of smaller ski areas. Peak's niche has been ski areas with an emphasis on day skiers as opposed to destination resorts, and it's obviously worked well. In the past all Peak Resorts' season pass holders have gotten a 50 percent reduction on lift tickets when they visit any other Peak resort. That will be a nice plus for Heartland skiers heading east for a snowsports vacation.
