The new Hotel Arnaria in Ortisei, Val Gardena, is an example of Alpine chic design in an area normally known for its traditional hotels.

Designed to maximise the use of wood, stone, glass, and soft fabrics throughout, the hotel aims to offer a traditional cosy mountain atmosphere with modern design and facilities.

The pièce de résistance of this hotel is its swimming pool with panoramic windows offering views out to the 3,000m2 garden and a glass ceiling so that swimmers can see the sky from the pool. Hotel guests can detox in the saunas and steam bath, take a refreshing dip in the outdoor whirlpool, practise their serve and volley on the indoor tennis courts for free, or get a workout in the fitness room.

Located a kilometre from the village centre of Ortisei, the hotel is just a stroll away from the slopes of the Dolomiti Superski area, with more than 1,200km of tracks to explore.

Choose from a comfort, superior, or family room, with doubles from a low €75 per person per night on a half-board basis.

Lift-linked to the Sella Ronda, the world's second largest lift-linked ski area, the local skiing is some of the most exciting in the region, with famous runs including Ciampinoi, Dantercepies and Piz Sella.  Annual World Cup Downhill event recorded Britain's best ever performance - a second for Konrad Bartelski.

Ortesei is a relatively large and pleasant market town with a double cable-car link to neighbouring Santa Cristina and Selva and from there onto the Sella Ronda, time and snow permitting.   The town has a life beyond skiing, being a regional agricultural and commercial centre.  it is therefore a good choice for those who like to escape ski talk in the evenings.
