Valais Tourism has announced new lifts in the resorts of Zermatt, Goms, Schwarzsee, Bellwald, and Riederalp.

The extension of the Matterhorn Express aerial cable car from the Schwarzsee paradise through Furgg and to Trockener Steg, now means that skiers can travel from Zermatt to the Trockener Steg station in 25 minutes without the need to change gondolas.

After 28 years of service, the gondola cableway between Tortin and Gentianes in the 4 Vallées ski area has had a facelift. State-of-the art design and panoramic windows offer passengers a new comfort level, superb views from the foot of Mont Fort, and a faster way to travel.

Starting this winter, the new Furggulti four-seater chairlift to the Bellwald Furggulti in Goms will transport 1200 persons per hour to an altitude of 2558 metres.

The Riederalp-Hohfluh chairlift in the Aletsch Arena has been converted in to a detachable four-seater chairlift with hoods. Now 2000 passengers per hour can travel from Riederalp to Hohfluh.

Other new additions include a sledging run in Zermatt and a ski jump in Grimentz. Zipfy sleds - plastic sleds equipped with a steering bar - will be available for tobogganing fans in Zermatt's Gornergrat area from January 2010 for the ride from Rotenboden down to Riffelberg.

Grimentz has built the new Woody Jump allowing skiers to take to the air in the Anniviers Valley. Nylon wings help to prolong the jumps - it is as good as flying. This unique ski and flight experience is not for beginners.
