Kronplatz is ending its winter season on a high with the Locknfescht, or 'Puddle Party', as it's also known on April 22.

This soaking wet spectacle sees participants (many in fancy dress) sliding down the slope and attempting to cross the pond on skis, cars without wheels, beds, bathtubs, sky rockets, desks, deckchairs and parasols.

It all started over a decade ago when a group of locals tried to cross the small pond, which forms from the melted snow on the Seewiese lake in Kronplatz every spring. Over the past 12 years the pond has grown in sizea (with the addition of more water) and the event has grown in craziness. The Locknfescht is always spiced up by hip music and plenty to eat and drink.

The fun starts at 10 a.m Aprill 22 in Kronplatz, part of the Italian Dolomiti Superski area.

Prior to the Locknfescht, Kronplatz hosts the F-Tech Springgingerle skiing and snowboarding event March 27 to April 1. Founded by two Kronplatz locals, Markus Eder and Matthias Fabbro, the event invites internationally renowned riders to the Pustertal valley.
