Alta Springs to Life in April

At Alta Ski Area, April is the coolest month – in terms of activities, not weather.

The final month of the skiing season kicks off with the annual Alta Gala fundraiser on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at La Caille restaurant. The event, which costs $115 before March 23 or $125 afterwards, benefits the nonprofit organizations of Alta Community Enrichment, Alta Historical Society and Friends of Alta. Tickets can be purchased online. Sponsorships can be purchased at the same site for up to $7,000.

As part of the event, ski company reps will be at the mountain on Saturday, April 7, for Spring Demo Day at the base of the Wildcat lift, and an Easter egg hunt and on-mountain scavenger hunt will be highlights for Sunday, April 8.

A number of special final-week events dot the calendar at Alta. On Monday, April 9, the Peruvian Lodge hosts a pool party from 4 to 6 p.m. Après-ski shifts to the Rustler Lodge on Tuesday, April 10, and open-mic music at the Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge Saloon runs from 8 to 10 p.m. The Shallow Shaft restaurant picks up the torch on Wednesday, April 11, with Epic Brewing après-ski beer quaffing.

The week wraps up with beer and brats at Alf’s Restaurant for lunch on Thursday, April 12, and après-ski at Snowpine Lodge. Then, Earth Day celebration fills up Friday, April 13, which also includes the Freaky Friday Stretch Pant Contest at 3:30 p.m. at Goldminer’s Daughter deck.
