Shanty Creek isn’t letting Mother Nature’s lack of winter weather dampen their March Madness Celebration this coming weekend, March 16-18.  It’s a unique chance to ski and golf on the same weekend.

With forecasted temperatures nearing 70 degrees, Shanty decided to open the Summit Golf Course for play, and there’s still plenty of snow covering the slopes of Schuss Mountain for skiing and riding.  It’s the perfect combination for a March Madness and St. Patrick’s Day celebration. 

There will be a Slush Cup, Blarney Stone Rail Jam and an Epic Big Air Competition taking place on the slopes, but March Madness will also be taking place inside Ivan’s Mountainside Grill featuring big screen viewing of NCAA Tournament games with an all-day Tap Take Over by Shorts Brewing Company.  Shorts will be featuring an Irish Stout and an Irish Red Ale to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, plus all the green beer you can drink.

Shanty Creek is offering a Ski & Tee Lodging package that starts at $95 per person, per night, based on double occupancy.  It includes lodging, one round of golf, one lift ticket, and breakfast.

It’s the first time that the resort has been able to offer both skiing and golf on the same weekend, according to Shanty spokesperson Lindsey Southwell.  Hopefully it’s not a sign of the times.
