Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho, roll out two weekends of spring events with films and music. Sun Valley Resort joins in the fun with special deals.

The Sun Valley Film Festival takes place March 15-18, 2012. The film festival attracts indies, premieres, documentaries, shorts, kid’s shows, and previews of new series for television and web. You can pick up individual tickets to single shows or purchase passes for $250-1,000 that grant admission to all the films and events. Several parties, including the opening and closing, add to the festival.

The following weekend brings SolFest 2012 to town March 23-25, 2012. The kick-off party starts Friday at Grumpy’s Bar and Grill, and live music bounces at several locations throughout the weekend. Blitzen Trapper headlines the weekend with a free show downtown on Saturday night for the Main Street party followed by a rail jam. On Sunday, Dollar Mountain hosts the Slide, Glide, Ride Relay for families.

Along with the events, Sun Valley Resort is putting the spring deals out for skiers and snowboarders. Lift ticket and lodging packages are available as well as special reduced lift tickets for college students.

Ski and stay packages are available for $139 per person per night based on double occupancy. The package includes one lift ticket per person for each night’s stay, but kids aged 15 and younger can ski free if with an adult.

You can book the package for multiple days this spring. For SolFest, if you book two nights, the resort will add a $25 Gift Card per room. Just tell the booking agent that you want the SolFest deal.

College students can get big discounts on lift tickets this spring. The College Triple Play Lift Ticket Pass for three days of skiing costs $139. The College Six Pack Lift Ticket Pass for six days of skiing costs $259.

The passes are available through the end of the 2011-12 season. They grant lift tickets on Baldy or Dollar for almost half price. Students must attend college full time and show ID.
