Crystal Mountain, considered one of the top family resorts in the Heartland, is offering Leap Year specials, with Mardi Gras celebrations and 5-for-$50 Fridays in early March as well as free lodging, breakfast, and ski passes for children aged 8 and under.

Once every four years Leap Year occurs and so does this $58 lift and lodging special, which includes a night’s lodging, full-day lift ticket and a cross-country trail pass.  The rate is per adult, per night, based on double occupancy, and is only available Feb. 28 and 29.  Take advantage.

Crystal is celebrating Mardi Gras on the Mountain Saturday, March 3. There will games, contests, face painting, Cajun food and drink specials in the Vista Lounge and live music.  Grab your beads and join the party. You may be crowned Mardi Gras King or Queen; your choice.

Friday, March 9, offers a whole bunch of 5-for-$50 specials. There’s the 5-for-$50 lift tickets ($10 each), 5-for-$50 group snowboard lessons, hotel slopeside lodging for $50 per person, and Early March specials include Pulaski Day, March 2-4, and Spring Break, from March 11-17, when the resort offers a third night free for spending two nights during those time frames.

Parents Magazine named Crystal Mountain as one of the "Ten Best Winter Resorts for Families" in the nation; the only Midwest resort mentioned in the article.

The resort offers 45 downhill runs, nine lifts including a high-speed quad, two terrain parks, a half-pipe, and more than 40 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails for both classic and skate.  27 runs are lit for downhill skiing and riding and three kilometers for cross-country skiing.
