Tyrol Basin, the popular day-trip ski area in hilly south central Wisconsin, is stuck on the number 12, and it’s a big plus for area residents.
The area offers numerous $12 specials to entice skiers and snowboarders midweek. Lift tickets Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m - 4 p.m are $12.
Every Tuesday, throughout the season, lift tickets are $12, rentals are $12 and beginner lessons are $12. The lesson is given at 7 p.m. Friday nights, from 7:30-11 p.m, lift tickets are $12.
Regular season all-day adult lift tickets are $42, and juniors (6-12) and seniors (60+) tickets are $37. The $12 tickets are a great deal.
Tyrol Basin, long known for its snowboard-friendly atmosphere, offers a full event schedule for freestylers. It offers a boatload of features and a halfpipe. Transworld Snowboarding rates it as one of the top three parks in the Midwest.
The ski area offers 17 slopes and trails, five terrain parks, three chairlifts and three surface tows; all lit for night skiing and riding. The Green Zone, which includes cliffs, ravines and trees, is a favorite for advanced skiers and riders. This all-natural area is not lit for nighttime use.
The nearby Holiday Inn Express in Horeb offers a couple’s getaway package, which includes an overnight, breakfast, lift tickets, and a complimentary beverage in Tyrol’s Double Diamond Bar. Family overnight packages start from $189.95. Go here for more information.
When you’re at the Double Diamond if you like Bloody Mary’s, try one. It’s one of the best I’ve had at a ski country bar.
